Update: July 16, 2015
In a letter to Eastern faculty and staff, the university has implemented a graduated furlough for Administration and Professional employees based upon salary levels.
Employees will have to take anywhere from seven to 14 unpaid work days.
President Glassman says his salary will be cut the equivalent of 16 unpaid days.
He says this will allow him to continue working on campus.

Eastern Illinois University president David Glassman releases new information on layoffs at the Charleston campus.
Glassman says last week 26 annually contracted faculty received notices they will not receive teaching assignments for the 2015-2016 academic year.
In addition, Glassman says three additional annually contracted faculty are being reduced to half time and ten annually contracted faculty positions will not be filled for the coming year.
Two weeks ago, Glassman told the university changes would need to be made to address a projected 12 to 14 million dollar deficit for fiscal year 2016.
The president says Eastern has experienced budget problems for several years due to the substantial decline in revenue due to decreasing enrollments.
Glassman says layoffs and furloughs for various employment classifications may continue through August 1st.
