Tuition Waivers

One local university says they will oppose a plan in the legislature that could save millions of dollars each year.

University of Illinois officials say they are not in support of ending the 50% tuition waivers offered to children of school employees.

The current proposed bill would end the tuition waivers immediately, but Representitive Jack Franks says he wants to change the bill so waivers are phased out over four years.

The idea would save public unversities ten million dollars a year.
