An Effingham hospital is announcing a new expansion project.
Work started March 10th on a new Center for Pediatric Therapy, according to St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital spokesperson Vicki Macklin.
That new center will offer state-of-the-art treatment services for children aimed at promoting development, improving mobility and encouraging independence, Macklin said.
"Additional advanced therapies that will be added include pediatric pelvic floor therapy, intensive therapy with the Universal Exercise Unit, TOT Savvy (tongue ties), sensory processing interventions, augmentative and alternative communication, advanced pediatric feeding therapy and much more." she said.
The new center will also include specialized equipment, including a climbing rock wall and an adaptive playground.
Once construction is completed in late August this year, the center will be the first and only of it's kind in the area, according to Macklin.
