Eastern Illinois' Men's Soccer Squad went head-to-head against the Evansville Aces Wednesday Sept. 4 at McCutchen Field, in the Panthers' first road trip of the year.
The match emerged quickly as E-I-U freshman Adam Boykin initiated a shot-on-goal within the match's first couple minutes, missing the shot.
Sam Eccles of EIU continued the offensive, narrowly missing the crossbar off a header in the middle of the box.
The Aces' Kai Phillip punched in the first and only goal scored in the contest at the 48th minute.
The Panthers did their best to respond to the goal, with Eastern's Sebastian Khoury putting a shot off the cross bar in the 54th minute, but the aggressive Aces' offense and positioning was too much for the Panthers.
Panthers' Senior Kyce Toutanji, earned his first start of the 2024 season, recording five first half saves and 10 total saves in the match to help keep the Aces' offense to a minimum.
Junior Ben Martin also picked up the Panthers' first red card of the season in the 84th minute, as the Aces went on to close out the match.
Evansville finished the night with 29 shots and 11 shots on goal, compared to the Panthers' 7 shots and 1 shot-on-goal.
The Aces win Wednesday's match by a final score of 1-0.
