Eastern Illinois University takes the field in Champaign for the first time since 2008 in three days.
This season marks the 100th anniversary of Memorial Stadium in Champaign.
The Fighting Illini are coming off of a 5 and 7 season.
As for EIU they're coming off of a 8 and 3 record marking the best finish since Jimmy Garoppolo was a Panther.
Eastern also came up just short of making the FCS playoffs.
For the fourth time in program history the Panthers open the season against a Big Ten opponent.
EIU is set to take on the Fighting Illini Thursday at 8 p.m.
This matchup will be just the second time since 2018 the Fighting Illini have taken on an FCS opponent.
