The Eastern Illinois Women's Basketball team is making new additions to their coaching staff.

The Panthers head coach Marqus McGlothan recently announced the hiring of assistant coach Betsy MacDonald, bringing both collegiate and professional playing experience with her to Charleston.

During her collegiate career, MacDonald played for St. Cloud State's program, earning all four years earning All-Conference honors as a senior, also receiving her master's degree from Durham University in England.

Professionally, the new Panther coach competed in stints, both with the British Basketball League from 2018 to 2020, and the Swedish Basketball League from 2020 to 2021.

She will join other additions to the Panthers basketball team, including Destiny Bragman and Caitlyn Peterson who were hired as assistant coaches this summer, as well as Clayre Shaver who will serve as the new director of operations for the Panthers.

Prior to joining Eastern's 2024 campaign, MacDonald worked as a trainer with Development Through Athletics, a student success advisor and assistant director of dual enrollment with St. Cloud State.
