A Christian County man with a prior sex crime conviction faces new charges of possessing child pornography, Illinois Attorney General Kwame Raoul has announced.
The attorney general's office charged Billy J. Hulfachor, 36, of Pana, with ten counts of possessing child pornography and one count of violating the sex offender registration act Thursday. Hulfachor is being held on $1 million bond, according to online court records.
In 2003, Hulfachor was convicted of aggravated criminal sexual abuse of an 11-year-old child in Edgar County, and in 2013, he was convicted of failing to register as a sex offender in Sangamon County, according to the attorney general's office.
The charges are part of an ongoing collaboration between the attorney general's office and local prosecutors to target offenders who download and trade child pornography online.
