The New Jasper County Jail will be open for public viewing.
The facility, which has been under construction since June of 2021, will be available for an open house on Wednesday December 21st from 4 to 6 pm.
The new jail was built on the site of the old one, which was built in 1912 on 106 E Morgan Street.
Sheriff Brandon Francis said it will be able to house up to 33 inmates and will include the sheriff's office and a 911 Telecom Center under the same roof.
Since construction began, inmates have been housed at the Richland County Sheriff, and the Sheriff's office has been operating at 1002 South Van Buren Street, said Sheriff Francis.
