Tuesday, 6 December 2022

The Department of Homeland Security gives two more years before it starts enforcing its Real ID requirements.

According to the department, the deadline is now May 7th, 2025, to give states more time to ensure that driver's licenses meet all security requirements.

After that day, people must have their licenses updated to meet security standards established by the Real ID Act, said officials.

After the deadline, the Department of Homeland Security said ID's that do not meet the new standards will not be accepted by federal agencies including the Transportation Security Administration.

According to the Department of Homeland Securty, this could prevent travelers from getting passed security at airports and prohibit them from other means of transportation.
