Douglas County Reports First Positive Case of COVID-19

The Douglas County Health Department is reporting the county's first positive case of COVID-19.

The department says a male resident in his 50s tested positive and is now recovering while in home isolation.

Health officials are working to identify and notify all close contacts with the man.

The Douglas County case is one of the 330 new cases of COVID-19 the Illinois Department of Public Health announced in the state Wednesday.

Health officials say there are currently 1,865 cases in 35 Illinois counties and 19 deaths.

Other positive cases in the WEIU viewing area include one case in Cumberland County, one in Christian County, four in Champaign County and three cases in Vigo County, Ind.

Officials say the age of those diagnosed range from younger than one to 99 years.

The Indiana State Department of Health is reporting a total 477 cases and 14 deaths in the Hoosier state.
