Two historic buildings in Edgar County make their way to the National Register of Historic Places.
The Illinois Department of Natural Resources says the former Paris High School building and Ernie Eveland Gymnasium were added to the list that's made up of properties deserving special attention and preservation.
The high school was built in 1909 with symmetrical additions added in 1922.
The gym was built by laborers from the Works Progress Administration in 1943 and re-named to honor basketball coach Ernie Eveland in 1977.
The high school housed students until a new building opened in the fall of 2015.
It's currently being renovated into senior living apartments.
The gym continues to be used for athletic and other community events.
