Eastern Illinois University is getting millions of dollars to fund a long-awaited building.
EIU officials said the state of Illinois has released just under $12-million in initial funding for Eastern's new science building.
They said the money comes from the state's Rebuild Illinois initiative, which was part of legislation approved back in June.
They said the bill will eventually provide a total of $119 million for the science building.
