Illinois State Police have issued a warning.
Police said multiple people are getting calls from individuals with foreign accents, claiming to be with the Illinois State Police, asking for personal information.
They said scammers may also claim there's a police matter needing to be resolved.
Police said if you receive a call like this, ask the caller to identify themselves, and ask for a callback number.
Authorities said they never ask for social security numbers over the phone.
