Charleston Man Accused of Driving Stolen Vehicle

A Charleston man is facing charges after police say he was driving a stolen vehicle.

29-year-old Michael Thoele is accused of motor vehicle theft, driving on a suspended license and leaving the scene of an accident.

According to police, a witness spotted Thoele driving the stolen vehicle on Lincoln Avenue and called authorities.

Thoele was confronted by the witness in the drive through of JB Hawks on Lincoln Avenue, said police.

Police said, while in the drive-up, Thoele hit the gas and climbed out the passenger window causing the vehicle to crash into another vehicle.

Thoele was taken into custody a short time later walking in the area of West Johnson Avenue.

Thoele is expected in court on January 16th.
