Mattoon Man Accused of Pointing Gun at Woman

A Mattoon man is facing charges after police say he pointed a gun at a woman.
Mattoon police say 28-year-old Matthew Phillips is facing charges of domestic battery and aggravated assault.
They say on December 15th, during a domestic incident on south 17th Street, Phillips grabbed a female by the wrist and backed her into a wall.
Authorities say Phillips then pointed a loaded rifle at the victim.
A court hearing is scheduled for January 8th.
