Update:
Coles County man accused of murdering his four month old baby pleads not guilty to the crime.
21-year-old Isaac Currey faces two counts of murder and appeared in court Thursday.
During Thursday's hearing, it was also decided that Currey will be examined to determine if he's mentally fit for trial.
According to police, on December 16th deputies were called to a home at 601 College Street in Lerna to check on an unresponsive infant.
Coles County Sheriff James Rankin says the parents were questioned, and during the investigation, Currey admitted he dropped the baby and believed the infant was injured but he put the victim to bed without calling for medical assistance.
Currey is scheduled back in court on March 12th.

A Coles County man is facing murder charges after a four month old baby is found dead in Lerna.
On Monday December 16th, deputies were called to a home at 601 College Street, in Lerna, for a reported unresponsive infant, said Coles County Sheriff James Rankin.
The four month old male was pronounced dead at the scene, said Rankin.
The parents were questioned, and during the investigation, the infant's father, 21-year-old Isaac Currey admitted he dropped the baby and believed the infant was injured, but he put the victim to bed without calling for medical assistance, said authorities.
Isaac was arrested at 3 a.m. on Tuesday December 17th on charges of involuntary manslaughter and child endangerment.
Those charges have since been updgraded to two counts of murder.
The investigation is ongoing, said Rankin.
