Preliminary numbers are in for this year's firearm deer season in Illinois, and they show a decrease in harvest totals.
Illinois' Department of Natural Resource reports 75,349 deer were taken by hunters during the seven-day firearm season that ended December 8th.
That total is down from 80,957 deer harvested last year.
Locally, Coles County hunters also harvested less deer.
