Panel to Share Taylorville Tornado Experiences Wednesday at EIU

Monday, 18 November 2019

Nearly a year after a tornado rips through central Illinois, four panelists are coming together to share their experiences.

On December 1, 2018, the city of Taylorville was devastated by a tornado.

The EF-3 tornado only touched down for a few minutes, but left several people hurt and hundreds with damaged homes.

EIU instructor and WEIU contributor Joe Astrouski will lead the discussion titled "Eyes of the Storm" on Wednesday.

Also on the panel is EIU alumni and Meteorologist Jesse Guinn, NWS Warning Coordination Meteorologist Chris Miller of the Lincoln, Ill. office, and tornado recovery Public Information Officer Joe Gasparich.

Astrouski says all four panelists will share lessons they learned from the storm and its aftermath.

The panel discussion starts at 7 p.m. in Doudna Lecture Hall on the Eastern Illinois University campus.

The event is open to everyone.
