Eastern Illinois Vice President for Business Affairs, Paul McCann, says the university will be able to sustain itself until the end of the fiscal year, which is June 30.
However, the upcoming fall semester is uncertain without money from the state.
There is no doubt Eastern will be in session in the fall, but it remains to be seen what the University will have to do in the upcoming months if the state cannot pass a budget.
In another effort to save money, McCann announced today the university will once again enact special business hours over the summer.
Starting May 9, some buildings on campus will be open 8 A.M. to noon and 1-4 P.M.,Monday through Thursday.
On Friday, those offices are required to close at noon.
McCann says this measure will save the university five hundred thousand dollars and promote energy efficiency.
