A 16-year-old charged in the shooting death of an Effingham teenager will not be tried as an adult.

Effingham County State's Attorney Bryan Kibler says the judge ruled the case will remain in juvenile court.

Officials say he's charged with accidentally shooting Kaylee Jacob last October.

Jacob died of a single gunshot wound.

Police say the incident happened in the 3200 block of South Banker Street in Effingham.

The gun involved in the shooting was reported stolen.

The juvenile will appear in court again on March 16th.
