Blizzard conditions caused a lot of businesses and schools to close today including Eastern Illinois University.
This was Eastern's first cancellation of the year due to weather conditions.
While some of us probably hit the snooze button for the third time this morning, EIU provost Blair Lord was up at 4:30 determining if the approaching winter storm was hazardous enough to cancel classes.
At 6:45 he made the announcement official.
Jackson Avenue Coffee employee Victoria Larsson said the coffee shop's sales were about 20 percent of the daily average but it's rare to find customers braving the wind and snow.
In fact, for Eastern Illinois University, it's rare to cancel class.
Officials say classes have been cancelled only a handful of times in the past decade.
