Illinois State Police say 2015 brought a big drop in the amount of concealed carry permits statewide.
Police say,55,000 permits were given during last year, compared to about 95,000 permits in 2014.
Officials say the number of applications that have been declined has doubled to about 11,000.
Officials say the police must have a reasonable suspicion that there's a danger to the applicant or others, in order to object to a permit application.
