Housing costs are not going up next year at this local university.
On Friday, the Eastern Illinois University board of trustees voted against increasing housing rates for the 2016-2017 school year.
EIU spokeswoman Vicki Woodard says the goal was to keep education accessible for students while trying to increase enrollment.
Woodard says this is the first time in two years Eastern hasn't increased housing rates.
