The Mattoon Fire Department has issued a warning about a phone scam.
Fire Chief Anthony Nichols says people have been receiving calls asking for donations on behalf of Mattoon firefighters.
Nichols says his department is not behind the calls.
He says the fire department's union will be sending out flyers next week asking for help with their annual Thanksgiving Baskets.
He says the flyers will be sent through the mail, and not by phone.
