Man Arrested After Police Say He Put Woman in Chokehold

A Matteson Illinois man is facing charges after Mattoon police say he put a woman in a chokehold.
Police say on Tuesday they arrested 19-year-old Robert Allen in the 2100 block of Prairie Avenue.
Allen is charged with domestic battery, resisting a police officer and possession of cannabis.
Police say Allen put a female in a chokehold and refused to comply with lawful directives given to him by a police officer.
They say he then struggled with the arresting officer.
Allen remains in the Coles County Jail.
