Charleston Standoff Latest

Wednesday, 22 April 2015

So far three people are facing charges after a six hour stand off in Charleston.

Coles County Director of Court Services Steve Kelly says David Slightom, David Glik, and Jessica Burgess are all facing charges after yesterday's standoff.

Around five yesterday morning officers were checking on a resident who was a part of a probation pre-trial program that allowed defendants to remain at home during the court process.

When officers got to the home of Slightom on West Pierce Ave. they heard people inside who refused to open the door.

Kelly says officers were given information that weapons and drugs were inside the home, so the Charleston Crisis Response Team was called.

Kelly says Glik and Burgess are charged with obstructing justice while Slightom is facing a charge of pre-trial violation warrant.

Slightom was scheduled to return to court next month in another case where he's charged with battery, criminal damage to property, and reckless conduct causing bodily harm.
