Bloomington Plane Crash

Wednesday, 8 April 2015

The National Transportation and Safety Board says it could take up to 18 months to determine the cause of the Bloomington plane crash.

The plane went down early Tuesday killing all seven on board, including Illinois State University's Associate Head Basketball Coach Torrey Ward and a Deputy Athletics Director Aaron Leetch.

Officials say they were coming back from the NCAA championship game when the plane went down.

Officials say the pilot, 51-year-old Thomas Hileman, had about 12,000 hours of flight time.

Officials say the aircraft was trying to land at a Central Illinois airport, but turned away from the runway before crashing.

It is not clear why the Hileman made this move.
