Eastern Illinois University finished counting the number of Spring semester students on campus, and staff say the figures are encouraging.
Eastern reported a spring to spring enrollment increase of 3.8%, approximately 326 students, from January 2022 to January 2023, said Josh Norman, EIU Associate Vice President for Enrollment Management.
Norman said new first time graduate students is up 5.9% while new high school dual credit students is up 8.8%.
"Eastern's commitments to excellence, access and affordability is a hallmark of our storied institution," said Eastern Illinois University President David Glassman.
The university also said it set a spring enrollment record in the total number of international students at 764 (a 32.4% increase).
"Graduate and international enrollments continue to climb as a result of our excellent programs, our commitment to affordability, and EIU's flexible approach to creating enhance accessibility for our diverse student body," said Dr. Ryan Hendrickson, L.M. Hammond Dean of the Graduate School.
Overall enrollment this spring sits at 9,183 students up from 8,857 last semester.
