Enrollment at a local university is once again going up!
Tenth-day data released by Eastern Illinois University shows spring enrollment at 7,621 students, which is 118 students more than last spring.
This is the third consecutive year for spring increases, and it follows EIU's overall growth as fall enrollment increased 11% from 2017 to 2019.
Part of the growth is attributed to the Graduate School, where Dean Ryan Hendrickson says they're experiencing the highest grad school population in a decade this spring at 1,621 students.
Officials also noted that the university's fall-to-spring freshman retention level is at a three-year high.
