Gulf Ecological & Human Disaster Project
Zach Nugent is an EIU graduate student and is also a reporter and anchor for WEIU TV. Michael Gismondi is a senior Geography major at EIU and also a Weather Forecaster for WEIU TV. These two students will be leaving tonight along with Cameron Craig, EIU Geography Instructor and Andrew Schubert, another EIU student. This group of individuals will be documenting the oil spill on the Gulf Coast as part of the Ecological and Human Disaster Project.
Cameron Craig has previous documentary work and is not wanting to sensationalize this, but really give people a sense of what is happening by interviewing people from across the board. Cameron Craig said this trip is an opportunity to reflect about the oil spill problem and the effects it has on the population.
The documentary is still in the planning stages but will air on WEIU TV and will be released in a series piece, multiple package or a five piece series from Monday to Friday. Stay tuned for broadcast airdates.
