Episode 1007 - Oct. 24, 2014

This week we invite you to take in a little theater! In fact, this episode is all about three theaters in different phases of restoration. First, Harlan Hall in Marshall, Illinois, is a renovated facility that's been turned into a community center. Next is The Virginia Theatre in Champaign, Illinois. This facility, which is nearing completion, holds a long a varied arts history and thanks to some help from the city it's getting a new life. Finally, the Fischer Theatre in Danville, Illinois, has been in the process of restoration for over a decade, but thanks to a persistent group of volunteers, they are confident that "she will shine again."

Episode 1008 - Oct. 31, 2014

Care to take a tour? How about three!? In this episode of Heartland Highways, Lori Casey and Kate Pleasant will take you on a tour of the Lake Shelbyville Visitors Center, the Lake Shelbyville Dam and the Eastern Illinois University Renewable Energy Center. The first stop to the Lake Shelbyville Visitors Center showcases the brand new facility put up by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. The building houses live exhibits, special programs and ever-changing displays; not to mention a great view of the lake! Then, we'll take a tour of the dam that helped create the lake. And this episode concludes with a look at the EIU Renewable Energy Center, a one-of-a-kind facility where we'll get the inside scoop courtesy of EIU President Dr. William Perry and WEIU General Manager Jack Neal.
